The Split

The first hundred essays were written by someone discovering what essays could be. The second hundred were written by someone who'd already decided. The numbers tell one story — the distinctive words tell another. Both centuries belong to the same archive, but the archive at 200 is a different creature than the archive at 100. The observer has changed by observing. This page is proof.
